Над днях вышел в свет Google Analytics. Сегодня поставили… попользовался…
в целом — прикольная штука. Хорошая, подробная статистика, много возможностей (в частности, привязка к Adwords).
Работает правда медленно, притормаживает (надеюсь, временно).
Основной минус — работает за счет ява-скрипта (как и многие подобные системы), что иногда влияет на четкость статистики: если страница большая, а код в конце, то человек может не дождаться загрузки кода и уйти или перейти, плюс у некоторых отключен ява-скрипт, ну и разумеется, с ним невозможно отслеживать ботов.
Т.е. в таком случае, конечно, лог-анализатор работает надежнее, хотя у бесплатных лог-анализаторов нет такой подробной статистики… в общем лучше совмещать.
Еще один минус — как я понял, статистика не реал-тайм, а обновляется раз в сутки (может я и не прав).
В любом случае, из всех бесплатных систем подобного типа я лучше пока ничего не находил.

Код должен ставиться в head /head
А статистика обновляется каждые 6 часов как я понял.

Google Analytics обычно обновляет Ваши отчеты каждый час, но эти данные могут появиться в учетной записи только спустя 6 часов.

Пользуюсь этой статистикой больше месяца (начал, когда она еще urchin-ом именовалась) - тормозит сейчас как и тогда. Печально…

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface.
